Wonderful Cultured 7mm round Akoya Pearl necklace

This mid length 7.0 - 7.5 strand of Akoya cultured pearls  73 ).  Their colour is creamy white with rose overtones.  Their shape is round.

This necklace is 59cm long and is fastened with an 9ct yellow gold and Akoya pearl flower clasp with a fish hook fitting.  Great lustre and excellent skin on all the pearls.

Akoya is the Japanese name for these pearls cultured in the Pinctada fucata oyster

Typically round in shape, white or cream in colour with a pinkish overtone, and possessing a high lustre – Akoya pearls are a classic. These saltwater cultured pearls are the a popular choice.

These species of oyster are relatively small and generally produce pearls with an average diameter up to 8mm, and more rarely up to 11mm.
